There is a Chinese proverb that says that ‘when sleeping women wake, mountains move’. This is something I passionately believe in. For thousands of years we have lived in the paradigm of masculinity, however this is changing. The feminine, female leadership and female qualities are starting to come to the fore more and more.

When I was growing up I did not have that many female role models. While my mother and both of my grandmothers are absolutely amazing women, they were also very different from me, meaning that I did not have anyone to look up to. In my experience girls were petty and difficult to deal with, so just becoming ‘one of the boys’ seemed to be the better option. This worked for some time, but after a while I started to feel like something was missing, I began to grow restless.

This was basically when my personal search for female role models began, a frustrating one at first. The women I saw portrayed in the media were often highly sexualized, defined by their marital status or were portrayed as very masculine if they were successful. To cut a long story short: I couldn’t find the women I was looking for. The women who were kicking ass but still honored their feminine side, the women who owned their sexuality without being defined solely by it, the women who were simply ordinary women doing extraordinary things.

I have always believed that there are so many women out there doing great things, but somehow this seems to get far less attention than what male leaders are doing. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with looking up to men doing awesome things, or learning from them. All I am saying is that women need people they can look up to, learn from and most importantly: relate to. So when, after years of searching, I started to encounter the women I had been looking for during my teenage years I decided that this way something far too powerful not to share.

So that is how the Her Way Podcast was born and I could not be more excited to shine more light on the stories of all of these amazing women, sharing the lessons they have learned, the obstacles they have had to overcome and the things they would have wished someone had told them when they were younger. Most importantly Her Way shares the stories of these authentic and inspiring female role models to help other women find their inner strengths, live life on their terms and be brave enough to embrace their femininity, in whatever shape or form that may be. It is absolutely wonderful to see how many women feel connected to this message and how many women have stepped forward, sharing their stories in order to lift other women up.

One of these ladies is Sarah Pearce, who shared obstacles she overcame, role models that inspired her and why change always begins from within.

My big hope is that you, who is reading this, is or will become part of this movement of women (and people in general) lifting each other up, and realizes that working together will bring us so much more value than bringing one another down. I look forward to you being a part of our community, you can find us at Facebook and of course on iTunes.

I would love nothing more than for you to find your role models who can show you that anything really is possible in this life.
